Panasonic Toughbook PC

All Panasonic Toughbook PCs meet the highest standards for “rugged” computers established by the US government. The MIL-STD-810 is a series of tests created by the Army’s Developmental Test Command to provide specific guidelines that computers must meet or exceed in order to be classified as “rugged.” The fully rugged Panasonic Toughbook PCs have passed these tests with flying colors.

The MIL-STD-810 tests for various weather conditions, such as low air pressure, low temperature, high temperature, rain, salt fog, icing, freezing, and humidity. Computers are tested for various kinds of shock, including constant acceleration, transport shock, and gunfire vibration. This Army test also puts the computer through tough sand and dust conditions and tests for leakage and the possibilities of explosive atmosphere caused by sparks in the machines.

Additional Tests on the Rugged Panasonic Toughbook PC

The hinges on the rugged Panasonic Toughbook PC have proven themselves to handle up to 50,000 cycles of opening and closing. The Toughbook PC has also survived up to 12 hours of water spraying directly onto the computer without ceasing to function. Panasonic designed a special feature to channel the water from the computer and funnel it out the bottom of the computer.

A rating of 8Kv Air was achieved by the Panasonic Toughbook PC for electrostatic discharge. This important test for compression showed these rugged PCs can withstand pressure over 300 pounds before ceasing to function properly. Both the rugged Toughbook 30 and 19 are currently available here.
